Mein Arbeitsalltag: Beschreiben Sie Ihre Aufgaben
Hello! My name is John Doe, and I want to help you learn how to talk about your daily work tasks in German. It’s a really important skill, whether you’re talking to a colleague or writing an email.
Today, we’re going to look at some simple ways to describe what you do. It’s not about complicated grammar – just clear, easy sentences.
1. The Basic Sentence Structure
The most common way to start is with “Ich…”. This means “I”. Then you add the verb. The most important verb for this topic is “arbeiten” (to work).
- Ich arbeite. (I work.) – This is the simplest!
2. Using “und” (and)
You can often use “und” to list things you do.
- Ich arbeite am Computer und ich schreibe E-Mails. (I work on the computer and I write emails.)
3. “Ich muss…” (I have to…)
“Ich muss…” means you have an obligation.
- Ich muss Berichte fertigstellen. (I have to finish reports.)
- Ich muss den Kunden anrufen. (I have to call the customer.)
4. “Ich betreue…” (I oversee/handle…)
This is useful for managing tasks.
- Ich betreue das Projekt. (I oversee the project.)
- Ich betreue die Daten. (I handle the data.)
5. “Ich erledige…” (I do/complete…)
“Ich erledige” means you finish something.
- Ich erledige meine Aufgaben. (I do my tasks.)
- Ich erledige die Buchhaltung. (I complete the accounting.)
6. Time Expressions
It’s helpful to talk about when you do things.
- Ich arbeite jeden Tag von 9 bis 17 Uhr. (I work every day from 9 am to 5 pm.)
- Ich arbeite am Morgen. (I work in the morning.)
- Ich arbeite am Nachmittag. (I work in the afternoon.)
Example Conversations
Mary Carry says: “Ich betreue die Kundenanfragen und ich schreibe Angebote.” (I oversee customer inquiries and I write quotes.)
John Smith says: “Ich muss die Präsentation vorbereiten und ich analysiere die Ergebnisse.” (I have to prepare the presentation and I analyze the results.)
- Important Note: Don’t be afraid to make mistakes! The most important thing is to communicate clearly. Practice these sentences, and you’ll quickly become more comfortable talking about your work.
