“Langfristige Ziele” means “long-term goals.” These are bigger goals you want to achieve over a longer period – usually five years or more. They are often more ambitious.

• Example: “Ich möchte in zehn Jahren mein eigenes Unternehmen gründen.” (I want to start my own business in ten years.)

Thinking long-term can feel a bit overwhelming, but it helps you make decisions about your education and career.

Wie sind sie zusammenhängend?

It’s important to remember that your short-term goals help you achieve your long-term goals. If you want to be a manager, you might take a short-term course in leadership. Or, if you want to start your own business, your first short-term goal could be to research the market.
