Explaining changes in living situation since A2

Mein Leben hat sich verändert – A2 Deutsch

Hello! My name is John Doe, and I want to talk about how my living situation has changed since I started learning German. It’s a really common thing – things change, and that’s okay! At A2 level, we need to learn about these changes in simple ways.

Neue Wohnungen und Mieter

Before, I lived with my parents in a small apartment in the centre of the city. (I lived in a small apartment in the city centre). Now, I live alone in a flat outside the city. (Now I live alone in an apartment on the outskirts of the city). This means I’m a Mieter (tenant) now. It’s different from being a Kind (child) because I pay the rent myself.

Die Wohnung – Veränderungen

My new apartment is bigger than the old one. (The new apartment is bigger than the old apartment). I bought a new sofa. Ich habe ein neues Sofa gekauft. (I bought a new sofa). I also added a small office. Ich habe auch ein kleines Büro hinzugefügt. (I also added a small office). These are small changes, but they make a difference!

Mit Mitbewohnern leben

Sometimes, my friend Mary Carry and I share an apartment. (Sometimes I live with my friend Mary). This is called Mitbewohner (flatmate). It’s good to share the bills – Die Nebenkosten teilen. (We share the utilities). It’s also good to talk about the rules of the apartment. (We talk about the rules in the apartment).

Alltag und Arbeit

Because I live alone, I have more time for myself. (Because I live alone, I have more time for myself). I can cook what I want, when I want. (I can cook what I want, when I want). It makes my work easier too. Es macht meine Arbeit auch einfacher. (It also makes my work easier). I can work from home sometimes. Manchmal kann ich von zu Hause arbeiten. (Sometimes I can work from home).
